The seaside village located 44 km from Heraklion on the central north coast of Crete. This little village has not become a touristy resort, it does not have any dooff dooff music and loud bars and clubs, yet has quite a few hotels and facilities, cafe-bars and tavernas.The river runs down through Sisi creating a lovely harbour port with peace and calm and the scenery of nature. The port is good for walking and biking, there is a lovely palm garden to the west of the harbour and it is ringed with tavernas
To the east you will find good sand and pebble beaches; Bufos Beach and Avlaki Beach, small characteristic coves.
Nearby by to this beachside village, you can visit Malia Ancient Site, this is an archeological site just 4.5 km from Sissi where one of major palaces of the Minoan people once stood. This is said to be the site of the brother of King Minos.
